WP Desktop Publishing

by Lepki on November 12, 2009

It initially started out with a search for ‘wordpress mass page edit plugin’ or something similar. Not to edit posts, but pages: title tags, keyword tags, content, etc. There are solutions out there, but nothing worth going through the installation and setup process.

Importing/Exporting WordPress Pages

The 2nd idea came to export to XML, convert to CSV, then re-import the XML file. Too much of a process as well. Will I remember it in the morning.

How about a 3rd party tool (aka software) for managing various blogs?

I had my doubts and yes there are many solutions out there, so an hour passed and a number of tools installed and reviewed.

Have a look at some of these: WordPress Desktop Blogging

livewriter In the end, I made a full circle back to Windows Live Writer. I’m not a big fan of some software, but MS has done a great job here. Control categories, pages, posts, add-ons, etc.

Why am I sharing this information

Basically testing the software now to see how it posts, pings and forms on the live website.

Why use a desktop application for managing blogs?

Automation! I keep saying from day one (somewhere back in 1998). Put your business on auto-pilot.

Saves you from logging in to your various Blogger, WordPresss and other publishing platforms. Keeps your drafts, posts and pages nicely organized in one place (also has future publishing!)

Final tip

When setting up you WP blog, set your XML-RPC to TRUE

remote

Have fun with your auto-pilot business online!

Last note: this post was generated within 5 minutes, no logins, no clunking about. Super fast!
